More than eight million Canadians consider French to be their first language. In recognition of this statistic and the language requirements of businesses all over the country, the Canadian Institute of Food Safety (CIFS) has launched a Food Handler Certification Course designed specifically for French-speaking students.
This new training program is set to help even more Canadian food businesses protect customers and comply with food safety regulations.
Once enrolled, students will be able to access the French Food Handler Certification Course online right away and complete their training at their own pace. Access is available for up to 30 days, allowing participants to complete the program in a single day or spread out their learning over several days to fit their schedule.
The French Food Handler Certification Course follows a government-approved curriculum designed to equip individuals with a robust understanding of food safety principles that can be applied when handling food in their workplace.
There are 11 interactive lessons in total, spread across four distinct modules.

According to the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), more than four million cases of food-borne illness are reported each year. Many of these incidents are the result of unsafe food handling practices, emphasizing the importance of effective food safety training for Food Handlers.
Professional Food Handler training is crucial for both legal compliance and customer safety. To prepare, handle and serve food safely, Food Handlers must have the knowledge and skills necessary to identify common causes of food-borne illnesses and take preventive action when required.
The French Food Handler Certification Course offered by CIFS is government approved, and recognized as meeting the legal requirements for Food Handler training all over Canada.
